Child Development at 18 months is the stage when children are becoming more social, expressive, and independent. They enjoy playing alongside other children, exploring their surroundings, and practicing new self-help skills.
Parents can support their child’s development by talking, listening, and responding to their words and actions, as well as reading and singing together to encourage language growth. Giving your child chances to practice everyday skills—like using spoons or taking off hats—builds confidence and coordination.
If you are worried about your child’s development or your child has lost development they previously had, speak to your Maternal Child Health Nurse or family GP.
