Our Health Promotion Team has worked together with Paedetrics Team at SHDH to deliver Giggles, Wiggles and Words project. The project’s aim is to highlight importance of early childhood literacy and ways to bond with your child through active play and nutritious eating.
Giggles, Wiggles and Words also encourages the use of children’s books to support conversations as reading promotes language development, imagination and learning. Book baskets are now available in SHDH waiting areas, encouraging families to read together during their visit. Six books were selected for Giggles, Wiggles and Words which align with Health Promotion’s priorities including eating and growing a variety of foods, movement, oral health, gender equity and connection.
Families will also find colourful posters and take‑home resources, including key messages from the INFANT program (Infant Feeding, Active Play and Nutrition). These materials were developed to provide practical, evidence‑based guidance to support healthy habits in the early years.
We have loved seeing parents singing with their little ones and children enjoying books while they wait. See the INFANT Messaging Booklet, Giggles, Wiggles and Words Booklist and Colouring page below!
